So I finally got to go visit my tiny house build again yesterday. I had to drop a few things off to him since he's almost ready to start working on the interior. Plus it gave me an excuse to go check it out in person! Oh...my... gah. Sooooo cute!!
The cedar siding looks SO good in person! Which makes me happy because I was a little nervous that I wasn't going to like it since it wasn't what I originally intended to use. But it looks very pretty and smells good too! :)
Plus I love the little diagonal beams that my builder decided to do on the front porch. I think it gives a more unique look than the standard vertical beams plus it opens it up just a little. The visit did bring up two questions though on the porch...
1. Do I want a railing or not?
2. Do I want the edges of the front wall trimmed in purple or left natural?
For the first question, I had thought all along that I didn't want a railing because I thought it would make the space feel too tight. It is, after all, only a 2 foot wide porch in the first place. And I told my builder no railing yesterday. BUT... several people (including my builder's wife!) have commented that a railing might be cute, so now I'm not sure.
Basically, this is it as it stands now...
And this is an idea of what one looks like with a railing...
I kind of like both looks, I'm just not sure if a railing would make it feel too confined or not. I'm already going to be looking for a "miniature" rocking chair as it is! ;)
Then for the question about trim... the plan is to paint the front door and the shutters (which still have to be built) purple. My builder told me yesterday that he is also going to paint the metal trim on the very top purple as well, which I like. But again, I thought yesterday that I wanted the front edges to remain natural, but now I'm not sure. Soooooo... that's where the Sherwin Williams Color Visualizer comes in! (And no, they don't pay me to say this)
Just to give myself a better idea of what it would look like, I used their tool to "drop" the paint in to the picture of my house. Granted, there will be actual shutters on the windows and not just trim. And granted, I can't "paint" a straight line to save my life. And granted, the website says the colors may appear different on the screen than in real life... which I sure hope so because it's supposed to look like this:
But hey, it gives the general idea.
So here it is with the "door" and "shutters" but no front trim:
And here it is with the front trim...
Luckily, he's not ready to paint just yet because I have thoroughly confused myself.
Comments/opinions/feedback would be appreciated!
But before I go, one more quick fun photo. My builder and my friend were brave enough to check out the view from atop my house. Me... not so much.
