Do you know what this is?
It might not look like much... but this little wonder is my new favorite beauty care tool.
Now I'll admit, when I first read about it, I didn't quite get it. I've never used anything other than my good ol' hands to wash my face and they've been getting the job done so far! But I was intrigued by it's claims to exfoliate dead skin cells and unclog pores of makeup residue (something I always try to do since I am so bad about going to bed with make-up on... guilty.), so I thought I'd give it a go!
First of all, the Luna 2 comes in four different colors, which are all based on your skin type. It was just a lucky coincidence for me that the sensitive skin one happened to be purple! :) They also have one for oily skin (green), normal skin (pink) and combination skin (blue).
When my pretty purple Luna 2 arrived in the mail and I opened the box, I noticed that it came with both a USB charging cord and a cute little travel bag to keep it in.
I actually was a little surprised to see that the charger was just USB and didn't have any attachment for a wall outlet, but it's actually worked out fine because as it turns out, one hour charge can keep the device charged for UP TO 7 MONTHS OF USE! Now, if my cell phone would just fall in line.
It also comes with an instruction book and a "Quick Start Guide" which I had to skip over because I am not the best with following picture directions (this is why me and IKEA furniture don't get along).
To use it, all you have to do is wet the device and press the button on the front one time to put the device in "cleansing" mode. After you've dampened your face and applied your regular cleanser, you just move the brush around your face in gentle circles for one minute. They do recommend that you stay away from products that contain any type of microbeads and stick with foam or cream cleansers (I use this one from Beautycounter).
Next, you press the button again to put it in "standby" mode while you rinse and dry your face. And then again to put it in "anti-aging" mode, where you use the opposite side (with the ridges) to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the areas around your forehead, eyes and mouth. I haven't really been too concerned with this (at least so far!), but if they're going to through that in there as a bonus, I'll take it! Then you press the button one more time to turn it off and that's it! Plus, you can even take it in the shower or bath tub with you because it's 100% waterproof.
Now if you're wondering, how does it work? Sonic pulsations! They provide both a deeper clean than normal hand-washing and target wrinkle-prone areas with lower frequency pulsations. But the best part is, you feel NOTHING! In fact, the silicone bristles are so soft and smooth, it actually feels like a soothing massage when you're washing your face. My skin really is SUPER sensitive (I didn't just say that so I could get the purple one), but this brush doesn't irritate my skin at all. In fact, it's quite the opposite. And because silicone is non-porous, nasty bacteria won't back up on the brush! Win win!
So... does it really work?
Well if the fact that I'm about to show a picture of myself without any make-up on to the whole internet world says anything, then here ya go...
My skin feels amazingly soft and smooth, not just right after I wash it, but all the time! And I've even noticed less breakouts on my forehead, even in the nasty summer months of North Cackalacki!
I honestly don't think I'll ever go back to washing my face the "old way" now that I've been spoiled. And since it doesn't ever require a replacement brush head AND comes with a 2 year warranty (although they guarantee 10 years of quality!), I won't have to!
