Guest Post - How Downsizing Led Me to a Life of Adventure

I'm super excited to have my friend, Alexis Stephens from Tiny House Expedition, guest post on the blog this week.  Alexis and her boyfriend Christian have been an inspiration to me ever since the beginning of my own tiny house journey.  And having gotten to know them over the years at various tiny house festivals, they're pretty cool people too.  ;)

So, make sure you follow their adventures!  And without further ado, here's Alexis...

5 Easy Ways to Simplify Your Life This Year

5 Easy Ways to Simplify Your Life This Year

Well, here we are halfway through February.

How are your New Year's resolutions going?

Don't worry.  Much like Planet Fitness, this is a no-judgement zone.  If you've already fallen off the wagon with your promise to exercise every day or your resolution to quit sugar cold turkey, it's okay.  In fact, I'm not really a big fan of New Year's resolutions anyway.

What I am a fan of, however, is life change.

Guest Post: 5 Ways Travel Transforms Every Part of Your Life

Travel is about transformation, not transaction. It is more than stamps in your passport or the number of countries you've been to. Sure, it's fun to count the "transactions" - the number of flights you've been on, tallying how many selfie sticks you see at tourist attractions, or planning your next big trip the minute you get home.

After you've traveled, however, you understand that there is this spark within you: you've changed, for the better, all because you decided to check something off your bucket list.

Why My Life Rocks More Now That It's Been "Stripped Down" & "Cleaned Up"

Why My Life Rocks More Now That It's Been "Stripped Down" & "Cleaned Up"

Just over five years ago, I was living a pretty "typical" American life.  Meaning, I had a job (or should I say jobs) that I didn't like, mounds of debt, I ate a diet that consisted of a lot of sugar, dairy, wheat & processed/convenience foods, I seemed to always be tired & sick and basically, I was just "surviving" my life everyday instead of living it.

I would wake up and go through the motions just to get through the day.  But overall, the days seemed to be filled with more stress, anxiety and fatigue than they were with joy or peace.

Believe it or not, December is almost here, (wasn't it just the 4th of July?) which means it's time for... you guessed it, Christmas shopping!

Now, if you're like me, you're probably looking forward to doing most of your shopping online this year so you don't have to fight with the lines, the crowds and the endless circles around the parking lots.

Living an Intentional Life vs. Living in Your Head

Living an Intentional Life vs. Living in Your Head

When I explain the meaning of bucket list living to people, I often say, it means living the life you "live in your head" in real life.

But what do I mean by the life you live in your head?

You know, all those things that you think about doing... all the things you dream about accomplishing... the places you imagine going and the hobbies or activities you mean to start.

Why You Need to Start Your Bucket List Now (and How to Do It)

Why You Need to Start Your Bucket List Now (and How to Do It)

If you already know my "story"... then I apologize in advance for repeating it in this post.  But for the rest of you that don't know...

In the spring of 2013, my mother (who was also my very best friend) was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.  She hadn't been feeling well for about six months or so, and had even lost a lot of weight, but she thought she was just having GI issues and attributed both to that.  Needless to say, the diagnosis hit all of us hard but she actually did very well with the chemotherapy treatments in the beginning, not getting very tired or nauseous at all.  As the months went on, we did see her body get smaller and weaker (most likely from the cancer and the toxic chemotherapy treatments... but I digress), but we all still hoped for the best.

GoBHppy Bucket List Mission - #46 "Swim" with Dolphins (check!)

Back in June of last year, I posted about a vision I had in a dream.  It was a VW Beetle Convertible with the license plate "GOBHPPY", sitting on a beach with the ocean to one side and a beach house up on a hill to the other.  My mom (and BFF) had always wanted to do those two things - own a beach house and a VW Beetle Convertible - but had run out of time.  The vision was her message to me to "Go Be Happy" and make my dreams come true while I had the time.

I'm Pretty Thrilled to Mark This Off the List...

Last June, I shared a vision that I received from my mother and the journey that I was embarking on to "GoBHppy."  The goal is to accomplish everything on my bucket list - while documenting the experiences first on my blog and later in a book.  Because I don't just want to go out and do these things for myself... I want to inspire other people to join in with me and/or accomplish things on their own bucket lists!
