Why We Resist Change (Even When It's a Good Thing)

Why We Resist Change (Even When It's a Good Thing)

I had an interesting realization recently.

That even when we desperately want change, we can actually be resistant to it happening.

I remember, a long time ago, when I was in the throws of severe social anxiety, someone (I think it was a therapist) asked me, “What are you getting out of your anxiety?”

I think I probably looked at her like she was out of her mind, because I thought, what in the world could I be getting out of this?? It’s awful!!

Guest Post: Foraging For What Matters Most in the Life You Already Have

Guest Post: Foraging For What Matters Most in the Life You Already Have

When you get close to the raw materials and taste them at the moment they let go of the soil, you learn to respect them.” ~Rene Redzepi

Foraging for food is not something I do, unless you count the nightly pantry raids after the kids are in bed and my husband and I settle in with Netflix. I am more likely to be found foraging for a pint of peanut butter and chocolate ice cream in the freezer section at Target than I am in the forest for edible mushrooms, obviously.

Why I'm Not a Fan of New Year's Resolutions

Why I'm Not a Fan of New Year's Resolutions

It’s not that I’m against New Year’s Resolutions.

Being the OCD person that I am, I actually really enjoy “clean slates” and “fresh starts.” And, I certainly am a big proponent of life change and doing away with all the things in your life that aren’t necessary or helping you to become the YOU you were created to be.

But, what I’m not a fan of… the reason I don’t necessarily love New Year’s Resolutions… is the idea that just because you flip the page on the calendar to a new year, you’re suddenly going to be ready to live in a completely different way than you did before.

These 5 Habits to Add to Your Routine Will Change Your Life

These 5 Habits to Add to Your Routine Will Change Your Life

When you hear the word "habit," your brain may automatically go to bad habits and start thinking of things like biting your nails or putting things off until the very last minute.  But, not all habits have to be bad.  In fact, the more positive and healthy habits you start incorporating into your life, the better you're going to start to feel.

And the good news is, they don't all have to be these massive, Earth-shattering changes.  You can make a few very small changes and institute a few new simple habits to your routine and begin to feel the benefits immediately.

How to De-Crapify Your Life

How to De-Crapify Your Life

Last night, I was chatting with my BFF about the biz and the new membership program I am building (which btw, you have a MAJOR say in... you can let me know what you want right here) and she said, "You basically help people cut all the crap out of their life.  You de-crapify their lives!"  We both laughed.  But, you know what?  That actually is my passion.

To help you de-crapify your life.

Dear Younger Me

Dear Younger Me

Recently, while driving in the car, I heard the song "Dear Younger Me" by MercyMe and it got me thinking... what would I say to myself if I could write to the younger me?  Although I could've written to myself at a lot of different ages, I decided to write to the 20-something me.

Why Living Joyfully is Simpler Than You Think

Why Living Joyfully is Simpler Than You Think

We all want to be happy.

I think we can pretty much agree on that, right?

Although, I actually wrote an entire blog post a few weeks ago about how I don't want to be happy... I want to be joyful.

Is Your Body Crying Out for Help?

Is Your Body Crying Out for Help?

They all told me I was crazy.

Well, not in those exact words.  But, by continually offering me anti-anxiety medication and anti-depressants, they were basically inferring that I was looney tunes.

Who you ask?  And what was I doing that was so off-the-wall?

Why I Don't Want to Be Happy in Life

Why I Don't Want to Be Happy in Life

There are many things in life that I hope to be - peaceful, generous, adventurous, strong and encouraging, just to name a few.

But one thing that I do not want to be is happy.

Yes, you read that right.  And no, that is not a typo.  I don't want to be happy.

Because happiness is only temporary.

How to De-Clutter Your Mind

How to De-Clutter Your Mind

When you hear the words "clutter" and "de-clutter," you probably automatically think of physical items piling up around your house.  But your home isn't the only place that can end up overrun with unwanted stuff.

Your mind can become cluttered too.

In fact, it may even be a little more likely for your mind to be cluttered than your house, because even the most OCD-organized people out there can still find themselves overwhelmed by the constant bombardment in their brains.  I should know, because I am one of said OCD people.
